Clicks Don’t Pay Rent. Conversions Do:
I’ve seen a lot of operators get excited about website traffic.
“Look at all these visitors.”
Cool.
How many of them turned into rentals?
Because that’s the part that matters
.
Google Analytics will show you:
How many people are coming to your site
Where they’re coming from
What they’re doing once they land there
But here’s the disconnect I see all the time:
Traffic goes up…
Rentals stay flat.
That’s not a marketing win. That’s a conversion problem.
Usually it comes down to a few things:
Pricing doesn’t match what they expected
The site is slow or confusing
No clear “next step” (reserve, call, rent)
Or operations isn’t aligned with what marketing is promising
You don’t need more eyeballs.
You need to convert the ones you already have.
In storage, a smaller number of high-intent customers will always outperform a flood of empty clicks.
That’s where revenue actually comes from.
