Going Dad Energy on Energy:
Arizona’s already pushing into the 100s, and I finally broke and turned the AC on.
And yeah… it hurt a little.
But it got me thinking.
I watch my power bill at home like a hawk.
Thermostat battles. Lights off. Dad mode fully activated.
At work?
For years, power was just… a line item.
Sure, I did the basics:
Light timers
Photoeyes
Maybe a few small tweaks
But I never really attacked it.
That’s changing.
Because when you actually step back and look at it,
Power isn’t a line item.
It’s one of the few expenses you can actively control, every single day.
And most operators barely touch it.
No strategy.
No accountability.
No real ownership.
Just “it is what it is.”
Not anymore.
I’m going full Dad mode on facility power:
Thermostats actually managed
Lights doing what they’re supposed to do
No more “set it and forget it”
Because if I care this much at home…
Why wouldn’t I care at scale?
And for the record
don’t even think about touching my thermostat.
