If you think Storage is about selling empty rooms… you’re not paying attention:

Most people think we rent square footage.

10x10s.
10x20s.
Climate vs non-climate.

That’s the spreadsheet answer.

But if you’ve worked at a property long enough, you realize something else.

People aren’t renting space.
They’re renting relief.

Relief from a move.
Relief from a divorce.
Relief from downsizing.
Relief from going through a parent’s belongings too soon.

Sometimes it’s practical.
Sometimes it’s emotional.

Often it’s both.

One of the strangest things about this business is how often customers hand over real money for something they hope they won’t need forever.

Because storage isn’t really about storing things.

It’s about buying time.
Time to deal with life later.

And once you understand that, the whole industry makes more sense.

Why demand stays strong during recessions.
Why tenants stay longer than they planned.
Why price isn’t always the deciding factor.

Because we’re not renting rooms.

We’re renting breathing room.
