Self storage isn’t a space business:
It’s an identity business.
People don’t rent a unit because they’re excited about square footage.
They rent a unit because they’re not ready to let go of who they are…
(or who they used to be… or who they’re trying to become again).
That unit isn’t just “stuff.”
It’s:
fishing poles
golf clubs
woodworking tools
a motorcycle helmet
hunting gear
the old gym equipment
the band equipment
the toolboxes
the “one day I’ll get back into it” pile
It’s the I’m still that guy unit.
And yeah… sometimes it’s checks and paperwork too.
The “adult life” pile. The “I’ll organize this later” box.
The stuff that proves life happened even if it got messy.
Self storage isn’t where people store junk.
It’s where people store identity.
Because as long as it’s still in that unit…
it’s not gone yet.
